A WEDDING IN WINTER: OUR TIPS FOR A FLOWERING CEREMONY INDOORS
Getting married in
winter means rethinking the secular ceremony. Only the most daring will have
the courage to organize a ceremony outdoors under the snow. In this case,
remember to provide your guests with enough pleas.
Here are the different
steps we apply when we work on the wedding and floral design of our secular
ceremonies:
1.A technical visit of
the premises. It allows us to become aware of the space and volumes offered by
the place selected by our couples.
2.To play on
perspectives and volumes. Spread out the compositions in order to make your
guests' eyes travel. Prefer a large composition to several smaller ones.
3.Play with the
specificities of the place: a statue, a window, a fireplace, ... Dress the
place without hiding or camouflaging.
4.The objective of our
work is to embellish a space, to create a painting, a scenography coherent with
the place that you will have selected.
SOME IDEAS...
In winter, we say yes to
dried or stabilized pope's money, to the assembly of branches in an arch or
suspension and to the combination of fresh and dried flowers and plants!
ADVICE FOR A SUCCESSFUL WEDDING FLOWER DECORATION
For a successful wedding flower decoration, with the delightful
complicity of Jemma Khan, I offer you today a list of precious advice that will
allow you to approach more serenely the floral decoration of your wedding. For
the occasion, Jemma Khan shares with us her professional expertise.
AT WHAT MOMENT SHOULD
YOU THINK ABOUT THE FLORAL DECORATION OF YOUR WEDDING?
Many people think that
you should choose your floral designer on average only 4 to 5 months before the
wedding. However, there are different florists. Each one has its own universe
that may or may not correspond to the atmosphere of your wedding. It is therefore
important to look for your florist without too much delay. For my part, I know
that I only work in one style: country style. And as I share these tips with
you, my season is already over. All I have to do now is finalize the estimates
and inspirations for each wedding. In short, if the flower is an important
element of your wedding, don't wait too long!
ON WHAT CRITERIA SHOULD
YOU CHOOSE YOUR FLORIST?
A florist is an artistic
flair, a universe, a well-defined style. Just like any other creator, the
floral designer exists through his style, his way of working with flowers,
colours and materials.
WHAT ARE THE SPACES TO
BE FLOWERED AND FAVOURED?
Depending on the
atmosphere you have designed for your wedding, the flowers will come to
sublimate the whole. Some brides and grooms choose to make their wedding more
or less flowery. Here is a non-exhaustive list of your needs:
- The bridal bouquet,
- The
bride's hairstyle,
- The
boutonniere,
- The
bridesmaids accessories
- Religious
or secular ceremony
- The
welcome sign,
- Dinner
tables,
- Cocktail
buffets,
- and so on.
It all depends on your budget, your desires and
the atmosphere imagined. For small budgets, I always advise future brides and
grooms to favour certain areas rather than adding a few floral notes here and
there. Preference should be given to pretty, generous centrepieces rather than
very small bouquets that won't be noticed or hardly noticeable. Prioritize the
spaces according to the time spent in each one.
WHAT BUDGET SHOULD BE
ALLOCATED TO IT?
The budget varies
according to the number of guests. The more guests there are, the more spaces
to be flowered, especially at dinner. A little also for the ceremony with
the ends of benches.
For your information,
here is an average observed on the weddings that I decorate. Of course, this is
only my scale, it will vary according to the region and the floral designer of
your choice:
HOW DO YOU CHOOSE
FLOWERS FOR YOUR WEDDING?
Rule number 1: the flowers for your wedding are chosen
according to the seasons. For example, prefer buttercups for winter weddings,
peonies in May, hydrangeas from July to October. These are only examples but it
is important to take into account the flower calendar. Afterwards, it is
essential to choose according to your tastes and desires. And do not hesitate
to work with your florist on the colour. Last tip: Trust your florist and let
yourself be guided .
HOW DO YOU CHOOSE YOUR
WEDDING BOUQUET?
With my brides, I always
distinguish between the round, slightly rustic bouquet and the more fuzzy one
for the very rustic blow. Once the spirit has been chosen, we discuss not only
the colours but also the flowers we are planning.
ARE THERE ANY FLOWERS OR
UNFORTUNATE ASSOCIATIONS TO AVOID?
Through my compositions,
I always favour pastel colours and monochrome. But you can also opt for more
pep's colours. The main thing is to balance the harmonies.
WHAT WILL THE TRENDS BE?
This season will be very
natural. Pastel, country, lots of greenery. A little less colorful bouquets for
me!
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU
GIVE TO A BRIDE-TO-BE WHO WISHES TO MAKE HER OWN BOUQUETS?
If you want to create
your bouquet yourself, stay in a rural and destructured spirit. Don't try to
give too strict an effect and stick to the idea of a bouquet inspired by
nature. You can buy your flowers or take the time to pick them. A simple string
tie or a ribbon reminiscent of the colours of the flowers and you're done!
